- Got a PhD in philosophy
 - Worked in various wordsmithing jobs (librarian, editor, magazine science writer, and freelance writer for computer magazines)
 - Worked at Adobe (maker of Acrobat and Photoshop) for 15 years. I was a technical writer for them, working on the user manuals and their user interfaces.
 - I loved words and writing and communicating.

- I volunteered for 8 years at the rehab department at Palomar Hospital
